<a href=\"http:\/\/codes.lp.findlaw.com\/nycode\/GMU\/12-F\/239-y\">Section 239-y<\/a><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Section 239-x, para. 6 states (regarding CACs):<\/span> <br><strong>\u201cTo assist a council in carrying out its functions, powers and duties, it may request the department of environmental conservation to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(a)\u2002prepare reports outlining objectives, priorities and proposed relationships of the council to the local legislative body;<\/p>\n<p>(b)\u2002prepare description of work to be undertaken, advantageous techniques to be used and suggested roles of council members;<\/p>\n<p>(c)\u2002provide research on conservation facts and procedures;<\/p>\n<p>(d)\u2002provide, on a consulting basis, technical and research assistance as may be required to assist the council in carrying out its work and to enable the council to offer recommendations to the local legislative body;<\/p>\n<p>(e)\u2002describe particular areas of natural resources within the city, town or village, as the case may be, which require particular attention by the council.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Section 239-y, para. 4 states (regarding CBs):<\/strong> <\/span><br><strong>\u201cIn addition to the foregoing a conservation board may:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>a.\u2003Exercise any of the functions and responsibilities heretofore granted to conservation advisory councils;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Request the assistance of the department of environmental conservation in the preparation of any report.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>In seeking assistance, your CAC or CB should start with the DEC regional headquarters that your group is located in.<\/strong> <\/span><br>Either go to this link (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dec.ny.gov\/about\/76070.html\">Map of all DEC Offices &#8211;
